The New Patriotic Party (NPP) \u00a0says revelations by the jailed cocaine courier, Nayele Ametefeh shows that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is complicit in the controversial \u00a0cocaine brouhaha<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

They claim the NDC did the same thing to them [NPP] during the MV Benjamin cocaine case in 2007.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”76Nv5jKEyroXUkL7NeACyVIgxXD9VRnI”]\u201cBy the same standard, the massive lapses, omissions and commissions in the Nayele Ametefe scandal, at the very least, by the NDC\u2019s own standard in opposition, makes President Mahama\u2019s NDC government complicit in this Nayele Ametefe cocaine scandal,\u201d a statement from the party stated.<\/p>\n

Throwing more light on the issue on Eyewitness News<\/strong>, the Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea explained that the party \u00a0arrived at the decision based on confessions made by Nayele Ametefe \u201cabout her relationship with very powerful people in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nayele was sentenced to eight years<\/strong><\/a><\/span> eight months imprisonment by a UK court for trying to enter the country with cocaine of 79% purity and worth 1.8 million Pounds.<\/p>\n

Six persons are currently being tried in Ghana for their alleged involvement in Nayele\u2019s mission<\/a><\/span> to the UK.<\/p>\n

Nana Akomea argued that Nayele\u2019s \u201caccess to the VVIP lounge which is the presidential lounge\u2026with the cocaine in her handbag\u201d proves that the NDC government is aware of the mission.”<\/p>\n

But, National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams rejected the claims on Eyewitness News<\/strong> saying \u201cthe NDC will always continue to set very good standards for governance, standards for fight against illicit drugs that will not just destroy the image of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said \u201cNana Akomea will help NPP better if he stays away from commenting on matters to do with drugs\u2026Picking up the MV Benjamin case and Amoateng case, these are not the same at all. The response that this government had shown in this matter if we saw the same in those cases I don\u2019t think we would have raised the types of questions that he raised.\u201d<\/p>\n
