{"id":79702,"date":"2015-01-06T10:30:32","date_gmt":"2015-01-06T10:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=79702"},"modified":"2015-01-06T09:48:08","modified_gmt":"2015-01-06T09:48:08","slug":"anti-bullfighting-campaigner-2500-needles-stuck-body-bid-get-event-banned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=79702","title":{"rendered":"Anti-bullfighting campaigner has 2,500 needles stuck in body in bid to get event banned"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fanny Pachon, who wanted to show a gesture of unity with the bulls, staged the painful stunt as part of her bid to get the sport banned in Colombia.<\/p>\n<p>Meet the anti-bullfighting campaigner who had a world record 2,500 needles stuck in her body as part of her bid to have the sport banned in her home country.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, a bullfight involves the matador, or chief performer, killing the animal by impaling it with a sword after a period of taunting it in front of spectators.<\/p>\n<p>But Fanny Pachon, 35, who considers the sport barbaric and cruel, is determined to get it banned in her home nation of Colombia, where she still lives.<\/p>\n<p>As a symbolic gesture of unity with the tortured animal, Fanny decided to allow her own body to be pierced, not by spears, but by 2,500 needles.<\/p>\n<p>She also had a tattoo showing the bloodied head of a bull inked on her arm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/PAY-Fanny-Pachon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-79708\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/PAY-Fanny-Pachon.jpg\" alt=\"PAY-Fanny-Pachon\" width=\"615\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/PAY-Fanny-Pachon.jpg 615w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/PAY-Fanny-Pachon-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fanny said: &#8220;Me and my colleagues tried for years to get proper exposure to a campaign against bullfighting but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added: &#8220;We realised we need to do something significant as there are two important dates on the bullfighting calendar coming up here soon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to Fanny, she decided to take more extreme action after her protests in the city of Cartagena, in the Bolivar region, failed to yield results.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, she has challenged matadors to go through the same process, saying: &#8220;Torero, if you are so brave, I dare you to feel what the bull feels.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The needle protest was carried out in front of the City Hall, where a petition had earlier been submitted calling for a ban on bullfighting.<\/p>\n<p>Colombian media say Fanny has broken the Guinness world record for a person with the highest number of needles in her body as the previous holder managed 2,009.<\/p>\n<p>She said: &#8220;I am not really interested in the records, I am only interested in helping the animals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: Mirror.co.uk<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fanny Pachon, who wanted to show a gesture of unity with the bulls, staged the painful stunt as part of her bid to get the sport banned in Colombia.
