{"id":79048,"date":"2015-01-03T11:26:42","date_gmt":"2015-01-03T11:26:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=79048"},"modified":"2015-01-03T11:26:42","modified_gmt":"2015-01-03T11:26:42","slug":"elvis-presleys-private-jets-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=79048","title":{"rendered":"Elvis Presley&#8217;s private jets up for sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"story_continues_1\" class=\"introduction\">Two private planes owned by Elvis Presley &#8211; the Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II &#8211; are going up for auction.<\/p>\n<p>The Lisa Marie, named after his daughter, was bought by Presley in 1975 and refurbished to include a master suite with full-size bed and conference room.<\/p>\n<p>Neither plane is airworthy but have been on display at Graceland for more than 30 years for fans to tour.<\/p>\n<p>They are being auctioned off by Julien&#8217;s by sealed bids.<\/p>\n<p>Presley bought the Convair 880 jet in 1975, two years before his death, and spent about $300,000, refitting it and renaming the Lisa Marie. It also features a bathroom with gold taps and a stereo system with 50 speakers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"caption full-width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.bbcimg.co.uk\/media\/images\/80026000\/jpg\/_80026967_80026966.jpg\" alt=\"Elvis, Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley\" width=\"624\" height=\"351\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"caption full-width\">Presley named the planed after his only daughter, Lisa Marie, who was born in 1968<\/div>\n<div class=\"caption full-width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.bbcimg.co.uk\/media\/images\/80026000\/jpg\/_80026862_80026861.jpg\" alt=\"Bedroom on Lisa Marie\" width=\"624\" height=\"351\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"caption full-width\">The Lisa Marie has a master suite with a full-size bed<\/div>\n<p>The tail is adorned with Presley&#8217;s trademark TCB for Taking Care of Business.<\/p>\n<p>The last flight it took was to transport his former wife Priscilla Presley and actor George Hamilton to his funeral.<\/p>\n<p>It was sold by his father, Vernon, in 1978, and had two owners before being bought by a consortium in a joint venture with the owners of Graceland to allow it to be displayed at the tourist hotspot.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement with the owners and Graceland expires in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Hound Dog II, a Lockheed JetStar, was bought in 1975 as a stopgap while the Lisa Marie was being prepared.
