Chairman of the local government and rural development committee of parliament, Dominic Azumah has urged government to motivate workers at the school feeding secretariat to keep the programme from running down.<\/p>\n
According to him workers at the secretariat are not pleased about their working conditions there, adding that they are “losing enthusiasm.”<\/p>\n
\u201cThe staff are not properly pleased in the sense that they are not robed into the proper civil service structure,\u201d he disclosed.<\/p>\n
This call follows investigations by the local government and rural development committee in parliament, which revealed that the staff at the Secretariat are de-motivated due to the pittance they receive as salaries<\/p>\n

In an interview with Citi news the Chairman of the local government and rural development committee of parliament, Dominic Azumah revealed that the workers are paid with monies received from the common fund adding \u201cwhat happens is that whatever amount is released from the common fund to the school feeding secretariat one\u00a0percent of that amount is used to pay the staff of the school feeding secretariat.\u201d<\/p>\n
He expressed worries over the development, saying \u201cthere salary is nothing to write home about and because of that they don\u2019t appear to be energized or excited doing the job.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the chairman the situation is greatly affecting the secretariat from the top worker to the least.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven the school feeding coordinator himself his salary is nothing to write home about even though he is one of the top class officers we have. These critical areas are affecting the performance of the school feeding programme,\u201d he bemoaned.<\/p>\n
