Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu in the Northern Region, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni has allayed fears from his political opponents that he is eyeing the Kumbungu seat for 2016.<\/p>\n
Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni in 2013 quit his Parliamentary job and accepted an appointment as Secretary General of the African Carribean and Pacific group (ACP).<\/span><\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”hPfenvoZfIMsUORzWFIzVcMWEOFFH3Fq”]His resignation necessitated a by-election which produced the only Convention Peoples Party (CPP) incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. <\/span>Moses Amadu Yahaya.<\/span><\/p>\n Widespread rumors suggested that Lawyer Mohammed Mumuni was preparing the grounds to stage a comeback in 2016.<\/p>\n Political pundits in the area have attributed the latest development to his recent frequent visits to the area.<\/p>\n However, Mohammed Mumuni has downplayed the reports in an interview with Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0and said: \u201cI have no intention of coming back, I have done three terms as a Member of Parliament for Kumbungu and I think that is enough.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n He however said he would motivate and support the younger generation there to follow his footsteps.<\/p>\n \u201cI have paid my dues and I think that my responsibility now is to encourage the younger people coming forward, the youth and the women to take their place and that is what I am really looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n Commenting on some developmental issues in the constituency, he noted that the construction of the Kumbungu road was long overdue.<\/p>\n \u201cThe road has been a long term agenda for a lot of people including my good self: we have worked tirelessly to ensure that the road is put in a proper shape.\u201d<\/p>\n He explained, \u201cIt was actually under contract and serious work was going on but it has come to a halt because of liquidity issues which is linked up with general matters affecting our economy in recent times.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n By: Karim Nagtogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu in the Northern Region, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni has allayed fears from his political opponents that he is eyeing the Kumbungu seat for 2016.
