{"id":78165,"date":"2014-12-30T11:34:36","date_gmt":"2014-12-30T11:34:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=78165"},"modified":"2014-12-30T13:43:49","modified_gmt":"2014-12-30T13:43:49","slug":"kkd-denied-bail-charged-with-rape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=78165","title":{"rendered":"KKD charged with rape; denied bail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An Accra Magistrate Court on Tuesday denied renowned broadcaster, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa popularly known as KKD, bail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;CE52W5C1FPKKR3vodCLKNpTD2iE6z8bs&#8221;]He has also been charged with rape.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/12\/28\/rape-claims-against-kkd-false-sex-was-consensual-lawyer\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>KKD was arrested on Saturday night<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, at the African Regent Hotel for allegedly sexually assaulting a 19-year-old\u00a0Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The prosecution in court on Tuesday opposed the bail application filed by lawyer of KKD, Nana Asante Bediatuo, insisting that the charge of rape is a non-bailable offence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">KKD&#8217;s lawyers, led by Nana Asante Bediatuo argued that the fact presented by the prosecution does not support the charge, hence prayed the court to grant their client bail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But the court presided over by Adwoa Akyaamaa rejected the application stressing that the charge leveled against KKD does not allow for a bail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The case has however been \u00a0adjourned to January 8, 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier, Nana Asante Bediatuo in an interview with <strong>Citi News\u00a0<\/strong>was confident that his client will be granted bail explaining that \u00a0looking at the \u201ccircumstances of this case, there is a strong likelihood that he will be granted bail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also insisted that KKD had \u201cconsensual sex\u201d with the \u00a0complainant and not rape.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonlne.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Accra Magistrate Court on Tuesday denied renowned broadcaster, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa popularly known as KKD, bail.
