{"id":770,"date":"2014-02-18T13:10:48","date_gmt":"2014-02-18T13:10:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citi.hatuasolutions.com\/?p=770"},"modified":"2014-02-18T13:10:48","modified_gmt":"2014-02-18T13:10:48","slug":"economic-challenges-requires-multi-stakeholder-discussion-alan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=770","title":{"rendered":"Economic challenges require multi-stakeholder discussion &#8211; Alan"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_771\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-771\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citi.hatuasolutions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/alan-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-771\" alt=\"Alan Kyeremanteng \" src=\"http:\/\/citi.hatuasolutions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/alan-2-300x201.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-771\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alan Kyeremanteng<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng is proposing a national forum to address current challenges facing the economy.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Citi News, Mr Kyeremanteng called for a national forum which will involve political parties, players in the private sector as well as civil society groups will be key in addressing the situation at hand.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the current economic challenges are an indication of a deeply rooted in structural problem in the economy which \u201crequires a multi-stakeholder platform that will deal substantively with the economic agenda of Ghana and the difficulties that we are encountering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the fast depreciation of the cedi must be a worry to all Ghanaians hence; the matter should not be left to government and the Bank of Ghana to address.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kyeremanteng maintained that a public forum is the way to go where discussions will go \u201cbeyond the commentaries on radio and the media generally but Ghanaians must have an impact in the solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has instituted new measures to check the free fall of the Ghana cedi and also to minimize the dollarization of the economy.<\/p>\n<p>The new measures include the revision of rules governing the operations of Foreign Exchange Accounts (FEA) and Foreign Currency Accounts (FCA) which took effect from February 5, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Although the directive was met with mixed reactions and skepticism, government has given the assurance that the temporary fiscal measure is in no way meant to hurt businesses.<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng is proposing a national forum to address current challenges facing the economy.
