{"id":75482,"date":"2014-12-19T14:41:17","date_gmt":"2014-12-19T14:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=75482"},"modified":"2014-12-19T14:41:17","modified_gmt":"2014-12-19T14:41:17","slug":"road-flagstaff-house-2017-ndc-national-delegates-congress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=75482","title":{"rendered":"Road to flagstaff house 2017 &#8211; and the NDC National delegates congress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On December 20, 2014, the National Delegates Congress (NDC) delegates will go to the polls in Kumasi to cast their ballots for the man who will serve as the Party&#8217;s Chairman for the next four years &#8211; and also others contesting for various positions ; to steer the affairs of the party.<\/p>\n<p>This Article spells out the positives and negatives : or if you will , the advantages and disadvantages of each of the four contenders in the N.D.C. Chairmanship race ; and how that would impact that Party&#8217;s overall performance in the 2016 election.<br \/>\nWhat the N.D.C. needs right now is energy, enthusiasm, hope and a willigness to do things differently at the top of that Party. This convocation involves long preparation that has inevitably heated up the political atmosphere within the Akatamanso family.<br \/>\nFor the betterment of their party: those delegates must think long and hard, and make a hard political and strategic choices that&#8217;s a win for their party , and our country.<\/p>\n<p>Judgments about the success or otherwise of this congress would be measured after the 2016 general election&#8230;.as this congress&#8217;s decision will affect the standing and prospects of the N.D.C. Party. Those are the facts, denialism is just not an option for this party.<\/p>\n<p>Below is the advantages and disadvantages of those contending for the Chairmanship position.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>(Dr. Kwabena Adjei.)<\/li>\n<li>Current Chair, Former Minister and Majority leader .<br \/>\nPositives :<br \/>\nHe is calm and steady<\/li>\n<li>Has a great working relationship with Asiedu Nketia and National organizer Yaw Boateng Gyan.<\/li>\n<li>He has an impeccable political pedigree than all of his opponents.<\/li>\n<li>As a former minister, former majority leader , and current chairman; he brings to bear great political experience to the N.D.C. He has had two back-to-back victories as N.D.C. Chairman.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Negatives:<br \/>\nA. He is seen as a weak leader currently-not a strong leader who could stand-up to the N.P.P.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>He is not charismatic, he is not exciting, he doesn&#8217;t have fire in his belly anymore.<\/li>\n<li>He can&#8217;t be relied upon to rebuild the party&#8217;s weak structure.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>2.( Alhaji Huudu Yahaya.)<br \/>\nCurrently a Vice-Chair, a successful general secretary of the N.D.C. from 1992-2000. A former P.N.D.C. secretary.<\/p>\n<p>Positives:<br \/>\nA. As a former successful general secretary, he has a great understanding of the N.D.C . working machinery.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>His organizational prowess is impeccable.<\/li>\n<li>He is a good team player.<\/li>\n<li>He is charismatic, exciting , and a workaholic. He can lead in building a stronger party structure and organization.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Negatives:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>He is a northerner, he comes from the same region as the President. There would be a lack of regional balance at the very top of the party.<\/li>\n<li>He is the brother-in-law of the Presiden ( John Mahama )<\/li>\n<li>He can&#8217;t, and won&#8217;t stand-up to the President on most important issues. He is seen as someone who will rubber stamp the wishes of the President.<\/li>\n<li>Kofi Portuphy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Currently Vice-Chair , and\u00a0 Director of NADMO<\/p>\n<p>Positives:<br \/>\nA. He is strong and tough talking. He will stand-up to the N.P.P.<\/p>\n<p>B . He will provide strong leadership as the Chair of the N.D.C.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>He will mobilize, and organize the N.D.C. very well. His organizational abilities is second-to-none. Party structure would be strengthened under his leadership.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Negatives.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>He is very head-strong, an uncompromising figure.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>B.He will stand-up to President John Mahama, Asiedu Nketia, and Yaw Boateng Gyan. Asiedu Nketia, Yaw B. Gyan won&#8217;t have it easy working with him. Calm at the top of the N.D.C. would be a thing of the past , should he become the Chairman.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>4\u00a0 Dan Abodakpi\u00a0\u00a0 .<br \/>\nCurrently a Vice-Chair, former M.P. , former minister and ambassador.<\/p>\n<p>Positives.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>He is calm and well composed. He has deep political experience.<\/li>\n<li>He would be able to assure and excite the N.D.C. World Bank. ( Volta Region) He balances the N.D.C. leadership as a deep Voltarian.
