{"id":73446,"date":"2014-12-12T06:19:57","date_gmt":"2014-12-12T06:19:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=73446"},"modified":"2014-12-11T21:51:12","modified_gmt":"2014-12-11T21:51:12","slug":"election-lower-manya-youth-welcomes-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=73446","title":{"rendered":"No District election at Lower Manya; Youth welcomes decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The youth of Lower Manya Krobo, Kloma Gbi, have welcomed the decision by the Electoral Commission (EC), to exclude the Municipality from the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/12\/10\/district-assembly-elections-set-march-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>upcoming nationwide District Assembly and Unit Committee Elections<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EC has explained that the exemption is due to a constitutional provision that allows for elections in a four-year period for assembly members.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;xI5hPcryC3oywtqGovxAzy8ZnLSGaUn2&#8243;]Members in the Lower Manya Krobo\u00a0assembly were elected just a year ago and sworn into office barely 10 months ago hence; the exemption.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to <strong>Citi News,<\/strong> the spokesperson for Kloma Gbi, Hilary Saki Kodji, said they welcomed the EC&#8217;s decision since any attempt to change the status quo would have caused problems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe are most grateful that this decision has been taken and we welcome it because the constitution gives the present assembly a four-year mandate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He complimented the EC\u2019s move, saying, \u201cit would have been unconstitutional to actually dissolve the assembly because they were inducted into office barely 10 months ago.
