Although Apple’s Bendgate fiasco forced everyone to think twice about the drawbacks of super-thin smartphones, the race for the slimmest handset is not over yet.<\/p>\n

Chinese manufacturer Vivo has unveiled the Vivo X5Max, a smartphone that’s just 4.75-mm (0.187-inches) thick at its thinnest point.<\/p>\n

Besides its incredibly slim profile, the handset seems to be a very capable device, with a 5.5-inch, 1080p screen, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 13-megapixel camera.<\/p>\n

Engadget<\/em>, which had some hands-on time with the Vivo X5Max, noted that its 2,000mAH battery is definitely not the best in class \u2014 but that’s not surprising from such a thin device.<\/p>\n

In addition, its 13-megapixel camera is responsible for a noticeable bump on the phone’s back, making it thicker by nearly 2mm (0.07 inches) at that point.<\/p>\n

Other phones in the “extremely slim” category include the Oppo R5, which is 4.85-mm (0.19-inches) thick, and Huawei Ascend P7, which is 6.6-mm (0.26-inches) thick.<\/p>\n

The Vivo X5Max is expected to hit China Mobile stores for about $490 on Dec. 12.<\/p>\n
