{"id":72633,"date":"2014-12-09T06:06:00","date_gmt":"2014-12-09T06:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=72633"},"modified":"2014-12-08T21:55:06","modified_gmt":"2014-12-08T21:55:06","slug":"frozen-top-selling-itunes-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=72633","title":{"rendered":"Frozen is top-selling iTunes movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"story_continues_1\" class=\"introduction\">Disney film Frozen has become iTunes&#8217; biggest-selling movie of all time, while the soundtrack has sold more than any other album in the US this year.<\/p>\n<p>Ed Sheeran&#8217;s X was 2014&#8217;s best-selling album in the UK, with Pharrell Williams&#8217; Happy the biggest single.<\/p>\n<p>Sheeran &#8211; whose album passed the million sales mark in the UK last week &#8211; said he was &#8220;absolutely buzzing&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Game of Thrones was the best-selling TV show, with John Green&#8217;s The Fault in Our Stars iTunes&#8217; top book.<\/p>\n<div class=\"caption full-width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.bbcimg.co.uk\/media\/images\/79586000\/jpg\/_79586366_edsheeran.jpg\" alt=\"Ed Sheeran\" width=\"624\" height=\"351\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"caption full-width\">Ed Sheeran&#8217;s album x passed the million sales mark in the UK last week<\/div>\n<p>No figures have been released by iTunes to accompany their charts of the year.<\/p>\n<p>However, last week the Official Charts Company revealed Sheeran&#8217;s album x &#8211; pronounced multiply &#8211; had become the first to sell a million copies in a calendar year since Emeli Sande&#8217;s Our Version Of Events in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old singer-songwriter was also named Spotify&#8217;s most-streamed artist in the world, beating Eminem and Coldplay with more than 860 million streams on the service.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"cross-head\">&#8216;Incredible year&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Wolf of Wall Street was the second biggest film of the year on iTunes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"caption body-narrow-width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/news.bbcimg.co.uk\/media\/images\/79586000\/jpg\/_79586370_samsmith.jpg\" alt=\"Sam Smith\" width=\"304\" height=\"405\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"caption body-narrow-width\">Sam Smith has enjoyed phenomenal success in the UK and US since being named the BBC&#8217;s Sound of 2014<\/div>\n<p>The download service also revealed several &#8216;editorial picks&#8217;, naming Sam Smith UK and Ireland best artist after In the Lonely Hour proved the year&#8217;s second biggest album.<\/p>\n<p>Smith called the accolade &#8220;an honour&#8221;, adding: &#8220;I&#8217;m going to have a drink now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Clean Bandit&#8217;s track Rather Be featuring Jess Glynne was named the UK&#8217;s best song, after the band scored the second biggest-selling single of the year on iTunes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thank you so much to everyone who bought it and supported us,&#8221; said a statement from the band.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;2014 has been an incredible year.
