The Ghana Police Service has attacked the methodology of the latest Afrobarometer survey which rated the Police as the most corrupt institution<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in Ghana.<\/p>\n

The survey sampled the views of 2,400 Ghanaian adults but the Police administration has described the methodology as \u201csuperficial.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reacting to the report, the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur said there should have been a more positive outcome out of the survey considering the work the Police is currently doing to restore confidence in the service.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”g9wqVN0WmEu8KF1XuyW71ddJwAsmQtdL”]\u201cWe were thinking that in this time and era, if any survey was going to come out, the rating of the Ghana Police Service very because the reforms that the Police have made over the years,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

He however served notice that his outfit will \u201cnot be guided by Afrobarometer report.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Police PRO, the outcome of the survey will remain \u201cperceptual and we know that perception is not the reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

He however admitted that although there could be some amount of truth in perception adding that \u201cthe fact stands that perception is not reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a related development, the Police administration says it is fighting hard to present a positive image about personnel of the service despite the continuous negative perception about it.<\/p>\n

The Director of Police Public Affairs, DCOP David Ampabenin told Citi News<\/strong> the administration has acknowledged the canker and are addressing it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have put down institutions; we have put down programmes to check our men,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

He was certain that the close interaction between personnel of the service and the public is what fuels the perception.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Police service is so close to the public. We work with the public more than any other institution so there will be infractions and that is why the Police service has been checking its men,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
