The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has appointed Mr. Chris Essilfie as\u00a0its new Chef de Mission for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.<\/p>\n

Mr. Essilfie\u2019s<\/span> appointment takes immediate effect, following the resignation of Mr. Ben Nunoo-Mensah as Treasurer and Chef de Mission for the Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n

The decision was taken at the GOC\u2019s meeting on Monday 17th March, 2014.<\/p>\n

Mr. Essilfie<\/span> was already a member of the GOC Commonwealth Games Working Group and his substantive appointment will mean continuity in the processes already underway.<\/p>\n

Mr. Essilfie<\/span> brings a wealth of experience on board as an accomplished consultant with over twenty three years of corporate, consulting and academic experience in Ghana and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

He is currently an Executive Board Member of the Ghana Olympic Committee and the immediate past Vice President of the Ghana Taekwondo Association.<\/p>\n

He chairs the GOC\u2019s Fundraising Committee and also led an ad-hoc committee that was charged with Strategy Development, HR and Restructuring. He is additionally a member of the Finance committee.<\/p>\n

Among other things, Mr. Essilfie<\/span> will lead discussions on securing a pre-Games training site for the Commonwealth Team, discussions on the consolidation of funding to support the Commonwealth Games effort, and the selection of an Authorized Ticket Reseller for the Games.<\/p>\n

The GOC would like to thank friends, well-wishers, supporters, and all stakeholders for their patience, trust and solidarity over the last few days, and assures all and sundry that preparations towards the Commonwealth Games are on course.<\/p>\n

Below is Mr. Chris Essilfie\u2019s profile:<\/strong>
\nChris\u00a0Essilfie<\/span>\u00a0is the Executive Director of IBS Consulting Alliance, a business strategy and management consulting firm in Accra. He is also the Director of Strategy at the Ghana Chamber of Oil & Gas.<\/p>\n

Chris is an accomplished consultant with over twenty three years of corporate, consulting and academia experience in Ghana and the United Kingdom.
\nHis many years of corporate experience traversed a number of cross-functional assignments.
\nPrior to setting up his current practice, he had had a number of years of his consulting experience in the United Kingdom, working as a financial advisor at an investment management consulting firm and as a project management consultant at a project development management consulting firm where he led project teams to successfully execute projects in the United Kingdom.
\nMr.\u00a0Essilfie<\/span>\u00a0has worked with several boards, senior management and management teams to restructure and turnaround many\u00a0underperforming<\/span>\u00a0companies in the country.
\nMr.\u00a0Essilfie<\/span>\u00a0is a United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) certified consultant with a BSC degree in Chemical engineering, MBA in Finance and a Professional Diploma in Financial Modeling and Project management.
\nHe is an executive Board Member of the Ghana Olympic Committee and the immediate past Vice President of the Ghana Taekwondo Association.
\nHe currently chairs the Strategy Development, HR and Restructuring and\u00a0Fund raising<\/span>\u00a0committees at GOC, and serves on the Finance committee of the GOC.<\/p>\n
