{"id":70395,"date":"2014-12-02T06:00:04","date_gmt":"2014-12-02T06:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=70395"},"modified":"2014-12-01T20:07:10","modified_gmt":"2014-12-01T20:07:10","slug":"pay-us-salaries-upper-west-akim-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=70395","title":{"rendered":"Upper West Akim teachers boycott classes over unpaid salaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over hundred teachers in the Upper West Akim District in the Eastern Region have decided to boycott teaching in the district to demand the payment of their three months unpaid salaries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Controller and Accountant General\u2019s Department (CAGD) in October called on all those on the government payroll system without bank account numbers <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/22\/salaries-of-suspected-ghost-names-frozen\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>to furnish the department with such details<\/strong><\/a><\/span> or their salaries will be forfeited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The teachers say the delay was attributed to some errors in their account numbers which were later resolved but their monies have still not been paid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;7Rj0QgLi5yclAGXSdg82CWLUaTneR0RQ&#8221;]The teachers earlier on Monday converged at the office of the district education to demand the payment of their monies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> one of the aggrieved teachers said they \u00a0\u201cthe Director assured us that by all means our salaries will be paid at the end of November but today is first December we went to the bank but there was nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He explained that they cannot resume teaching because besides their salaries, they do not have teaching and learning materials adding that \u201cyou are asking teachers to be in the classrooms without register, notebooks or pay why should we go?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He threatened that the teachers will not resume work until their demands are met.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Patricia Conteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over hundred teachers in the Upper West Akim District in the Eastern Region have decided to boycott teaching in the district to demand the payment of their three months unpaid salaries.
