Citi FM\u2019s Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO); arguably Ghana\u2019s most authentic highlife musical celebration is set to thrill its numerous patrons once again with a parade of some of the nation\u2019s legendary Highlife musicians.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s event, dubbed the MOGO Dance Party, comes off on Friday December 5 \u2013 Farmers Day \u2013 at the plush Alisa Hotels in Accra.<\/p>\n
The legendary Nana Ampadu and the Ramblers International Band will lead the pack of performers; the versatile Okyeame Kwame, the smooth Akwaboah.<\/p>\n
Highlife, the authentic Ghanaian local genre of music, has for several decades served the people of the West Africa with feet-moving style and melodies.<\/p>\n
The MOGO Dance Party would see the performers keeping patrons on their feet in a party atmosphere in celebration of authentic Ghanaian rhythms, a great year and ten years of relevant radio that has seen Citi 97.3 FM winning the coveted CIMG Media Organisation of the year.<\/p>\n
Acting Head of Programmes and Events at Citi FM, Philip Kofi Ashon in an interview said \u201cthis year\u2019s MOGO is different. We have two legends, Nana Kwame Ampadu and the Ramblers International Band.<\/p>\n
Nana Ampadu is revered as one of the highlife musicians with the most songs \u2013 over six hundred. He is respected both locally and globally for his unique rhythms and lyrical dexterity.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Ramblers are also one of the few bands from Ghana that have made their mark locally and internationally. Their songs are timeless and the \u201cimmortal\u201d band brings on about four decades of a rich musical heritage.<\/p>\n
According to Mr. Philip Ashon, the combination of Nana Ampadu and the Ramblers, two of the most respected names in highlife and the inclusion of Okyeame Kwame (Mr. Versatile) and Akwaboah (whose grandfather and father) are highlife legends, really makes the MOGO Dance Party live up to the tagline \u201cCelebrating the Past, Inspiring the Future.\u201d<\/p>\n
