{"id":67956,"date":"2014-11-24T06:35:19","date_gmt":"2014-11-24T06:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=67956"},"modified":"2014-11-24T06:49:50","modified_gmt":"2014-11-24T06:49:50","slug":"govt-hasnt-forthright-nayele-cocaine-saga-effah-dartey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=67956","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t hasn&#8217;t been forthright on Nayele cocaine saga &#8211; Effah-Dartey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Deputy Minister of Interior, Captain Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey (rtd) has charged government to set-up an independent probe into the circumstances surrounding the arrest of suspected cocaine courier, Nayele Ametefe.<\/p>\n<p>This, he said will bring clarity to the matter and clear government\u2019s name and its alleged involvement in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Ametefeh was arrested at the Heathrow airport in the United Kingdom (UK) for carrying about 12kg of cocaine in her hand luggage.<\/p>\n<p>Following public outcry over how the cocaine went undetected at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB)\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/17\/cocaine-woman-traveled-with-austrian-passport-nacob\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>issued a statement<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0indicating it had collaborated with UK officials on the arrest and gave the assurance the matter was still under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;J7ZTSw17n5lbag6oXdoSvummLbHs1Y9o&#8221;]But this claim by NACOB was however refuted by the UK government.<\/p>\n<p>The President, John Mahama subsequently<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/22\/nacob-board-dissolved-cocaine-saga\/\" target=\"_blank\"> dissolved the governing board of NACOB<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has also\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/22\/cocaine-saga-govt-dares-uk-to-speak-on-diplomatic-passport-claims\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>challenged the UK government<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to give further details on the matter and clarify whether or not, Ms\u00a0Ametefeh had in her possession, a diplomatic passport.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0over the matter, the former NACOB boss, Captain Effah-Dartey said he was convinced that the government has not been forthright on this issue hence, his call.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whole conduct of this woman\u2019s case has been very, very fishy.
