The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has settled on December 13, 2014 to organize the party\u2019s national delegates\u2019 congress.<\/p>\n
The congress which will allow delegates\u2019 of the party to elect new national executives will take place in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n
The Committee took the decision at a meeting at the party\u2019s headquarters in Accra on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”7UjZaTKefIoWCpr2uyUWkl35m02sdNFR”]The congress was originally scheduled to take place on October 25, but it was\u00a0postponed due to a court case<\/strong><\/span><\/a> brought against the party by an aggrieved member.<\/p>\n The aggrieved member, Njonolah Linus dragged the NDC and its executives to court for\u00a0allegedly overstaying their\u00a0mandated tenure of office.<\/p>\n Most of the regional elections of the NDC were also rocked by series of court cases, but over the weekend, the party was able to complete all outstanding regional congresses.<\/p>\n Per the party\u2019s calendar, regional elections are to be completed before the national congress.<\/p>\n As a result, the various court cases contributed to the delay in the organization of the national congress.<\/p>\n The new congress date will thus enable the NDC open up nominations for persons aspiring to contest the various national executive positions.<\/p>\n Currently, some of the aspirants are vigorously campaigning although officially, none of them have filed their nominations.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
