{"id":65981,"date":"2014-11-17T17:50:01","date_gmt":"2014-11-17T17:50:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=65981"},"modified":"2014-11-17T19:42:36","modified_gmt":"2014-11-17T19:42:36","slug":"bni-invitation-of-citi-fm-boss-preposterous-mfwa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=65981","title":{"rendered":"BNI invitation of Citi FM boss \u201cpreposterous\u201d &#8211; MFWA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) has described as \u201cextremely preposterous,\u201d the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) invitation and questioning of <strong>Citi FM<\/strong> boss over an online publication.<\/p>\n<p>He questioned why the Ghana Police Service was by-passed in the investigations saying, \u201cit is not even the Police but a National Security Agency\u2026I think we have enough mechanisms to deal with such infractions if they are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;r10hALmzPBiHyVlkTKit4skNO4hQo7xC&#8221;]The Chief Executive Officer of the <strong>Citi FM<\/strong>, Samuel Attah-Mensah was on Monday invited by the BNI for questioning over on online publication on citifmonline.com about the <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/16\/ghanaian-woman-busted-for-carrying-cocaine\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>arrest of a Ghanaian woman<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0in the UK for possessing cocaine weighing 12kg.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old Nayeli Ametefeh was reported to have traveled with a Ghanaian Diplomatic passport but the <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/17\/arrested-ghanaian-woman-doesnt-hold-diplomatic-passport-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>government has denied the report.<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Attah-Mensah\u2019s Counsel, Nii Apatu Plange told <strong>citifmonline.com<\/strong>\u00a0that he was not allowed to join Mr. Attah-Mensah during the interrogation.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <em><strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong><\/em>, the Executive Director of MFWA, Sule Brimah said that if indeed, the earlier publication contained inaccuracies; it was not enough reason for Mr. Attah-Mensah to be invited by the BNI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us assume it contains inaccuracies and on the basis of that we will pick up the head of that media organization?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that such occurrences are only witnessed in places like Somalia, Iraq or in Syria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that Ghana has gone past this stage and I will be extremely surprised if it is anything related to information or content put out by Citi FM,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Briamah lamented that it is \u201cvery, very surprising that Ghana at this day and age; 20 years of democracy\u2026the repeal of the Criminal Libel law, a country that is put out there in the world as being one of the freest in media freedom and then it does this because a station has put up something that in their view or they have established not to be true and the reaction is that; will just come and whisk the manager of the station away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are the things that existed during the Military times that we all cried about.
