The National Communications Authority (NCA) has confirmed to Citi Business News that it has received a formal request from\u00a0Goldkey Telecoms to extend the deadline for it to begin operations.<\/p>\n
The NCA had earlier this year issued a directive that all companies issued with a 4G LTE network license are to commence\u00a0operations by the end of November this year or risk losing their license.<\/p>\n
Goldkey Telecoms was one of three Ghanaian companies given the go ahead to commence operations.<\/p>\n
However Goldkey Telcom according to the NCA has requested for a three month extension.<\/p>\n
According to the authority it is reviewing the request for the extension, following which a decision will be taken.<\/p>\n
The other two companies issued with the same license Surfline Telecoms and Blu Telecom have began operation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile a fully owned Ghanaian company Broadband Home Limited has also been issued with a 4G license.<\/p>\n
This brings to four, the number of companies that have attained the 4G license in the country.<\/p>\n
