{"id":64790,"date":"2014-11-13T14:52:58","date_gmt":"2014-11-13T14:52:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=64790"},"modified":"2014-11-13T16:51:19","modified_gmt":"2014-11-13T16:51:19","slug":"teshie-nungua-water-desalination-project-completed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=64790","title":{"rendered":"Teshie-Nungua water desalination project completed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Deputy Minister of Communications, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu has revealed that Government has completed the Teshie-Nungua desalination water project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said the project will end the perenial water problems of \u00a0the people of Teshie-Nungua.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Teshie-Nungua and its surrounding environs in the Greater Accra region have been experiencing acute water shortages for more than two decades now.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;6AvD5mYo5M7LzL130vdaCVAmp4kuHD0b&#8221;]The situation has been a source of worry to many who live in the area \u00a0with many accusing the government of neglecting them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parliament had earlier approved a $110 million loan facility for a Water Purchase Agreement between the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Befesa Desalination Development Ghana Limited to help transform seawater into potable water for Ghanaians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the minister the \u201cProject is a 13 million gallons of water per day treatment plant planned to serve about 500,000 people in the area. It was implemented through a Build, Operate, Own and Transfer (BOOT) mechanism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe project\u2026 aims at improving water delivery to the following areas; Teshie, Nungua, the Teshie Military barracks, Batsoona, Sakumono and parts of La-Dadekotopon. The project is complete save for me minor installations,\u201d he hinted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a related development, the Deputy Minister further indicated that about three of such water related projects have been completed awaiting commissioning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They include Kpong water supply expansion project, Kpong intake rehabilitation project, and Accra-Tema Metropolitan area (ATMA rural) water supply project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said \u201cthese four projects will ensure that all the water demand for the Accra Tema Metropolitan Area is met with an excess supply of about 8 million Gallons of water per day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Deputy Minister of Communications, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu has revealed that Government has completed the Teshie-Nungua desalination water project.
