The Chief of Cape Coast, Osabarimah Kwesi Atta II has pleaded with a Cape Coast High Court to pardon the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Priscilla Arhin, after being charged with contempt.<\/p>\n
In October the concerned traders of Kotokuraba market secured an injunction on the construction of the market, asking for certain facilities to be provided at the temporary market before the demolition of the old market can be carried out.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”I9rj5l8BpqmQtaXTETni4hoLMDhliVoM”]Despite the court injunction the Assembly headed by the MCE withdrew the services of the security guarding the market and cordoned off portions of the market, preventing traders from selling their wares there.<\/p>\n
Some of the traders had to remove their goods from the stores and sell on the street while others refused to go to the temporary market because of complaints about the uncomfortable nature of the the sheds.<\/p>\n
For the intervention of the Osabarimah Kwesi Atta II she would have been jailed for contempt of the court.<\/p>\n
However she was asked to write an undertaking, promising to be of good behaviour and undo all the new systems she earlier put in place.<\/p>\n
