{"id":64217,"date":"2014-11-12T06:59:45","date_gmt":"2014-11-12T06:59:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=64217"},"modified":"2014-11-12T07:33:42","modified_gmt":"2014-11-12T07:33:42","slug":"er-ndc-hit-court-injunction-6am","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=64217","title":{"rendered":"E\/R NDC hit by court injunction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Koforidua High Court has placed an injunction on the upcoming National Democratic Congress\u2019 (NDC) Eastern Regional elections which was to be held on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The party\u2019s quest to elect its regional and national officers before the year ends has been hit by several court injunctions.<\/p>\n<p>The latest injunction was secured by two party members who claim that one Offei who won the Akropong Constituency election as constituency chairman is being prevented from performing his role.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;bd68tovnAtMGQn9vAqLOrlbjBkz1P2BR&#8221;]One of the complainants, Matthew Kwadwo Antwi told \u00a0<strong>Citi News,<\/strong> their earlier call on the party to address their concerns was disregarded, hence their decision to go to court to seek redress.<\/p>\n<p>He accused the leadership of the party in the region for attempting to \u201cmanipulate processes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. Antwi, they petitioned the national executives and the party\u2019s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is said to have given directives to the regional executives over the matter.<\/p>\n<p>But Antwi claims that despite Mr. Nketia\u2019s directives, no action has so far been taken.<\/p>\n<p>The court injunction has reportedly been submitted to the regional secretary of the NDC, Anthony Gyampo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they are ready to allow Offei to act as the chairman, we will be ok,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the Eastern Regional Secretary of the NDC, Anthony Gyampo has admitted that the party has been served with the injunction notice.<\/p>\n<p>He is assuring NDC members in the region that the party will try to seek an out of court settlement with the two aggrieved members.<\/p>\n<p>In a related development, the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC will on Wednesday meet to set a new date for its National Delegates Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The party <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/13\/ndc-postpones-national-delegates-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>postponed its October 25\u00a0National Congress<\/strong><\/span><\/a> due to a court case brought against the party executives for\u00a0allegedly overstaying their\u00a0mandated tenure of office.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<br \/>\n<a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/osamidan\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @osamidan<\/a><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Koforidua High Court has placed an injunction on the upcoming National Democratic Congress\u2019 (NDC) Eastern Regional elections which was to be held on Thursday.
