A Tamale High Court has placed an injunction on the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) election in the Northern Region which was slated for Saturday November 8, 2014.<\/p>\n

Two \u00a0disqualified aspirants for the regional secretary and treasurer positions dragged the party to court for disqualifying them.<\/p>\n

The disqualified regional secretary aspirant, Mohammed Aliu alias “One Man,” accused the NDC\u2019s General Secretary , Johnson Asiedu Nketiah of deliberately disqualifying him to favour a preferred candidate in the race.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”K1KUo6gS26v0KgRHAEpoPgQBDz4iW3FM”]He further condemned the NDC leadership for organizing the vetting exercise at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council amidst a heavy military presence.<\/p>\n

In a related development a disqualified Brong Ahafo Regional chairman aspirant of the NDC, Racheal Kubadzi has also filed a motion for injunction on the region\u2019s upcoming elections on Saturday.<\/p>\n

According to him the basis of his disqualification by the vetting committee of the party was unconstitutional and has therefore decided to seek redress from the court.<\/p>\n

In September, 2014, an aggrieved member of the NDC \u00a0in the Ashanti Region, Linus Njolonah\u00a0also\u00a0sued the party<\/a><\/strong><\/span> alleging that some of its national executives whose tenure of office had expired were disqualifying some aspiring candidates.<\/p>\n

The case which lingered for about a month was finally settled out of court\u00a0after the party scrapped its election guidelines<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Mohammed Aliu who is a senior lecturer of Tamale Polytechnic appealed to the NDC founder, Jerry John Rawlings to call Asiedu Nketiah to order.<\/p>\n

According to him, the NDC chief scribe is intentionally sideling persons loyal to the Rawlings\u2019 seeking election for various positions at all levels.<\/p>\n

Mohammed Aliu told Citi News<\/strong> no amount of persuasion will convince him to rescind his decision until he secures a space on the ballot paper.<\/p>\n

His supporters besieged the court premises with placards some of which read, \u201cNo one man no vote\u201d \u201cGeneral mosquito is bias\u201d \u201crespect the delegates,\u201d \u201cwe want justice\u201d and we \u201cwe won\u2019t agree.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Court will reconvene on November 16 during which the party is expected to file its response.<\/p>\n
