{"id":62098,"date":"2014-11-04T16:16:32","date_gmt":"2014-11-04T16:16:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=62098"},"modified":"2014-11-04T16:16:32","modified_gmt":"2014-11-04T16:16:32","slug":"sole-commissioner-concludes-investigations-on-nov-6-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=62098","title":{"rendered":"Sole Commissioner concludes investigations on Nov. 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After two years of holding public sittings, the Sole Commissioner, Justice Yaw Apau, charged by the President to investigate\u00a0the payment of judgment debts and other related matters will conclude\u00a0sittings on Thursday, November 6, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>This was revealed at Monday\u2019s sitting by Justice Yaw Apau.<\/p>\n<p>The Sole Commissioner added that his outfit will prepare the final report which would be submitted to President John Mahama.<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama on October 8, 2012 swore in Justice Appau to thoroughly investigate the judgment debts, procedures for negotiations, contracts, execution, monitoring and resolve disputes as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/sole-commissioner.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62100\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/sole-commissioner.jpg\" alt=\"sole commissioner\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/sole-commissioner.jpg 640w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/sole-commissioner-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;yKRNh7aSqvjk2CzQy9Mir4tXz9L1UtXW&#8221;]He is expected to make recommendations to prevent unnecessary \u00a0judgement debt payments to individuals and companies which has cost the country millions of Ghana Cedis.<\/p>\n<p>His appointment came on the back of a series of payments\u00a0to some individuals and institutions including businessman Alfred Woyome, Waterville Holdings and Isofotun SA.<\/p>\n<p>Some government officials were also implicated in these payments.<\/p>\n<p>But the President\u2019s appointment of the Sole Commissioner was largely criticized by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a cross section of the public who were of the view that it was a PR gimmick aimed at creating the impression that government was working to ensure the judicious use of public funds.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission was due to end its sitting at the end of October, 2014 but had to request for an extension of time due to the number of cases pending before it.<\/p>\n<p>Over the period of the sitting, the commission has invited prominent personalities including former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.<\/p>\n<p>Former Energy Minister under the erstwhile Kufuor administration, Albert Kan-Dapaah and his deputy, K. T.
