{"id":61985,"date":"2014-11-04T12:42:10","date_gmt":"2014-11-04T12:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=61985"},"modified":"2014-11-04T12:45:52","modified_gmt":"2014-11-04T12:45:52","slug":"8-arrested-over-nkwanta-south-dces-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=61985","title":{"rendered":"8 arrested over Nkwanta South DCE\u2019s murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eight persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Nkwanta South in the Volta Region, Peter Kojo Penyeso.<\/p>\n<p>The eight are currently in Police custody and are being\u00a0interrogated.<\/p>\n<p>The DCE, Peter Kojo Penyeso was <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/03\/breaking-nkwanta-south-dce-gunned-down\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>gunned down Monday evening by some unknown assailants<\/strong><\/span><\/a> at his residence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>According to Citi News\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0Volta<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Regional<strong> c<\/strong>orrespondent, Macintosh Gratham, \u00a0\u201cthe Police suspect an ethnic dispute and these eight people are from one tribe fighting over the land of Nkwanta. The suspected murderers believe they are the owners of the land and the DCE was meddling in that issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;e0MdERTeo8sZepPIoHMrTTHOF4gsGlm0&#8243;]He said \u00a0the eight wrote a petition to the Regional Minister a few weeks ago, &#8220;calling on the President to remove the DCE from office because he was meddling in land issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gratham reports that the eight \u201cwere seen yesterday evening, around 4 pm, holding a meeting at a private home shortly before the murder.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Police suspect that they are part of the syndicate that murdered the DCE,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the area, following an appeal by the Member of Parliament in the area Gershon Kofi Gbediameh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c Currently, there is a massive police presence.
