Nana Akomea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Minister of Employment under the Kufuor administration, Nana Akomea, has warned that government\u2019s appointment of a trustee to manage the tier two pensions will subject the fund to what he described as \u201cpolitical football.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He remarked that once the government unilaterally chooses Pensions Alliance Trust as trustee, \u201cit\u2019s made that company a political company so if another political party comes, they will have the reason to change it and then it becomes political football.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Cw8NjOKLZUejhH9IxV8qUgCKF6TCF6Xg&#8221;]Twelve labour unions on October 22 <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/21\/labour-confirms-strike-on-wednesday\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>laid down their tools indefinitely<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to protest the management and payment of their tier two pension fund.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/24\/we-havent-chopped-your-pension-funds-haruna-iddrisu\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>Workers have alleged that\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0government has misused the funds already accrued hence the refusal to handover the management of the pension.<\/p>\n<p>But the Communications Minister, Dr. Omane Boamah on Monday <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/03\/merchant-bank-wasnt-bought-with-pension-funds-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>rejected the claims<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0and maintained the monies were intact.<\/p>\n<p>The government last Friday <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/31\/court-orders-unions-to-call-off-strike\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>secured a court order<\/strong><\/span><\/a> directing the striking unions to call off their strike within eight days but the unions insist they will only return when their concerns are addressed.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing his thoughts on the issue on Eyewitness News\u2019 Point Blank segment, Nana Akomea observed that the public sector workers are aggrieved because \u201cone party has imposed a trustee on the other and that is what is creating the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He has therefore suggested that the government should settle on a trustee together with the leaders of the various public sector worker unions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet the labour leaders and the government sit down;
