The best sexual position for men with back ache is ‘doggy-style’.<\/p>\n

At least that’s the view of experts in Canada, who say that contrary to popular belief, ‘spooning’ is not the best position to have sex in if you suffer from back ache.<\/p>\n

They say ‘doggy-style’ is in fact the more favourable position.<\/p>\n

Researchers at the University of Waterloo in Ontario analysed information gathered from electromagnetic motion capture systems to determine what the most stress-free method for men with bad backs.<\/p>\n

Documented in the journal, ‘Spine’, it followed the progress of ten couples attempting five common positions in different manners.<\/p>\n

Men who struggle to touch their toes are advised to replace ‘spooning’ with ‘doggy-style’ sex and to try hip-hinging, rather that thrusting with their spines.<\/p>\n

Lead author of the findings Natalie Sidorkewicz believes that they have proved a common theory wrong.<\/p>\n

She said: “Before now, spooning was often recommended by physicians as the one position that fit all.<\/p>\n

“But as we’ve discovered, that is not the case.<\/p>\n

“Sex positions that are suitable for one type of back pain aren’t appropriate for another kind of pain.<\/p>\n

“For the first time ever, we now have very solid science to guide clinicians on their recommendations for patients who suffer debilitating back pain, but still want to be intimate.”<\/p>\n

University researchers plan to publish details about the female spine during sex in the coming months.<\/p>\n
