A former Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo has labeled President Mahama as indecisive, when it comes to issues about fighting corruption.<\/p>\n
\u201cApparently we have a President who is unable to be decisive about the fight against corruption. Not a single member of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] has been locked up with the huge corruption scandal that has hit this country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Point Blank<\/strong>\u00a0segment on Eyewitness News,<\/strong> Karbo said corruption has reached alarming proportions, adding that the canker has become so evident in the country.<\/p>\n \u201c There is mounting evidence… talk to any taxi driver, talk to any waitress, talk to any waitress and they will tell you that there is massive corruption going on in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n Karbo also outlined major challenges facing the economy, saying \u201call sectors of the economy are crumbling. Growth has been stagnant for the last three four years and these are all major hardships that Ghanaians are going through now.\u201d<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”BMCK338jQ3WLBHVpfixUD1GVWKxVfTKD”]He believes the National Democratic Congress has only deceived Ghanaians with vain better Ghana Agenda promises.<\/p>\n \u201cToday as we speak, things are on the opposite and I\u2019m not too sure the NDC can again talk about their better Ghana agenda or \u2018I care for you mantra\u2019 again\u201d<\/p>\n Karbo stated that the Presidential Commission set up by government will rather pave way for people to be pardoned without being punished for their wrongdoing.<\/p>\n \u201cYou know that the Presidential Commission is not a right place for us if indeed we are committed. We all know that this Presidential Commission about the World Cup saga, people are gong to walk free. .. Why do you set up a Presidential Commission when you know that the end results cannot take that person to a court of competent jurisdiction…you know that there is a legal lacuna but you[government] still go ahead to set it up,\u201d he maintained.<\/p>\n The former Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Emile Short, has also\u00a0expressed concerns about the increasing number of massive corruption cases<\/strong><\/span><\/a> saying the situation has reached \u201cfrightening proportions.”<\/p>\n He said there is “the lack of accountability, the mind set of people going into public office and also the fact that there is no sensitization or awareness creation about the evils of corruption and the cost of corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n
