{"id":57852,"date":"2014-10-20T12:40:44","date_gmt":"2014-10-20T12:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=57852"},"modified":"2014-10-20T12:40:44","modified_gmt":"2014-10-20T12:40:44","slug":"us-companies-to-help-ghana-fight-ebola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=57852","title":{"rendered":"US companies to help Ghana fight Ebola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">American companies operating in Ghana have offered their assistance to the government of Ghana to prevent the spread of the deadly Ebola disease in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This was disclosed\u00a0by the\u00a0American Chamber of Commerce Ghana\u00a0at a briefing on Ghana\u2019s preparation so far in the event of a possible outbreak.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking at the briefing, Deputy Health Minister, Dr Victor Bampoe, assured the American business community of the country\u2019s preparedness to curb the spread of a possible Ebola outbreak.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;mE0NrtxbdrEUWMqDqheWBR6sknTh2ePc&#8221;] Speaking at the 2014 Odwira festival, President John Dramani Mahama told Ghanaians that the government was activating an insurance package to motivate frontline health workers in case of a possible outbreak of the disease.<\/p>\n<p>Currently the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/02\/tema-ebola-centre-ready\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tema Ebola Isolation Centre is ready<\/a><\/strong><\/span> for a likely outbreak.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> President of the American Chamber of Commerce Ghana Philippe Ayivor said American companies are ready to support and collaborate with Ghana in the fight against Ebola.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe are willing and we are able to support but as to whether we will be able to support the government in all the request they are making that the Chamber will discuss with its members to deal with that. I will want to just make it clear that American companies are ever ready to help the government of Ghana to fight the Ebola menace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Companies like Coca cola, Newmont and Price Water House Coppers gave presentations on what they are doing in their own small way to educate their staff and the communities they operate in which they say has gone well so far.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The US Ambassador to Ghan, Gene Cretz said the US government is committed to helping Ghana through advocacy, training and education in fighting the disease.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Mr Gene A.
