{"id":57650,"date":"2014-10-18T21:25:40","date_gmt":"2014-10-18T21:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=57650"},"modified":"2014-10-19T07:53:59","modified_gmt":"2014-10-19T07:53:59","slug":"nana-addo-is-npp-flagbearer-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=57650","title":{"rendered":"Nana Addo is NPP flagbearer again!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nana Akufo-Addo has received massive endorsement from delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to become the party\u2019s flagbearer for the third consecutive time.<\/p>\n<p>He eased to victory with 94.35% of the votes while his biggest opponent Alan Kyeremanteng received 4.75%.<\/p>\n<p>The other candidate Addai Nimoh managed a paltry 0.91% of the votes.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Addo won massively in all ten regions where over 140,000 delegates in 275 constituencies voted.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to party supporters at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra, Nana Addo said: \u201cI am profoundly grateful and truly humbled by your overwhelming endorsement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NPP must rid the country of, through the ballot the incompetent government of John Dramani Mahama,\u201d he stated emphatically.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to form a government for Ghana where we will reverse the decline of our nation\u2026 we have the men and women who can do it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Also addressing the teaming party supporters, Alan Kyeremanteng conceded defeat and said: \u201cI wish to use this opportunity to congratulate my elder brother and friend for the overwhelming endorsement by the party.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d like all of us to stand solidly behind Nana Akufo-Addo to ensure in 2016, the NPP comes back to power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that, \u201cAt long last the battle is over, and the struggle to take over power from the NDC has begun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Signs on the wall<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before the National Delegates Congress, the party went to the polls to whittle down the number of candidates seeking to lead the party from seven to five.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo emerged the overwhelming favourite, winning the elections with over 80% percent of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the party\u2019s bigwigs noted that Nana Addo\u2019s victory was a clear sign that they were going to vote massively for him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Familiar face<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo is very popular among the grass root members of the party and seems to have built a very strong network within the party who are loyal and work for him.<\/p>\n<p>How the delegates voted:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Northen Region<\/strong><br \/>\nNana Addo \u2013 11,848<br \/>\nAlan Kyeremanten &#8211; 346<br \/>\nAddai-Nimo &#8211; 86<\/p>\n<p><strong>Central Region<\/strong><br \/>\nNana Addo &#8211; 11,052<br \/>\nAlan Kyeremanten &#8211; 402<br \/>\nAddai-Nimo &#8211; 45<\/p>\n<p><strong>Western Region<\/strong><br \/>\nNana Addo &#8211; 11246<br \/>\nAlan Kyeremanten &#8211; 309<br \/>\nAddai-Nimo \u2013 65<\/p>\n<p><strong>Volta Region<\/strong><br \/>\nNana Addo &#8211; 5,280<br \/>\nAlan Kyeremanten &#8211; 251<br \/>\nAddai-Nimo &#8211; 114<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upper West Region<\/strong><br \/>\nNana Addo &#8211; 3,118<br \/>\nAlan Kyeremanten &#8211; 173<br \/>\nAddai-Nimo &#8211; 43<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Nana Boakye Yiadom\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nana Akufo-Addo has received massive endorsement from delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to become the party\u2019s flagbearer for the third consecutive time.
