{"id":56483,"date":"2014-10-15T08:14:10","date_gmt":"2014-10-15T08:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=56483"},"modified":"2014-10-15T10:37:17","modified_gmt":"2014-10-15T10:37:17","slug":"ghana-to-protest-treatment-of-ebola-carrier-in-czech-republic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=56483","title":{"rendered":"Ghana to protest treatment of &#8216;Ebola carrier&#8217; in Czech Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana will officially protest to the Czech Republic, the inhumane treatment of a Ghanaian student who was suspected to be carrying the Ebola disease.<\/p>\n<p>A video footage showed the suspected patient, <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/14\/ebola-suspect-ghanaian-wrapped-in-plastic-in-czech\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>wrapped in black plastic<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, being wheeled away on a luggage cart by a \u00a0person wearing a biohazard suit.<\/p>\n<p>The student has since tested negative for the disease.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;RmLS4Zf8e7odGDcaUSd0bvdUX2HgU4Zk&#8221;]The incident has sparked outrage among Ghanaians who have vented their spleen, especially on various social media platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Police in the Czech capital however, justified their actions saying:\u00a0<em>\u201c<\/em>we took emergency measures after receiving a report that there was a man from Ghana at the station possibly carrying Ebola.<em>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZI6dcP__56g\" height=\"465\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Ghanaian Ambassador to Czech Republic,\u00a0Zita Okaikoi, who told\u00a0<strong>citifmonline.com\u00a0<\/strong>on Tuesday that the student had <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/14\/ghanaian-ebola-carrier-in-czech-republic-traumatized\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>been traumatised by the incident<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, confirmed that a protest to the Czech authorities had been planned.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are here to protect our citizens, to ensure that the interests of the Ghanaian is protected. So if you let them know it will prevent future occurrences. this is not the first or last that Ghanaians are going to come here.
