President Mahama has directed the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Woode to investigate the Commissioner for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Lauretta Lamptey.<\/p>\n

The CHRAJ Boss has come under widespread criticism for her decision to spend about\u00a0$180,000 on rent alone<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0within a space of three years.<\/p>\n

Her decision has prompted various\u00a0groups<\/span><\/b><\/a>\u00a0and individuals<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/a>to call for her removal.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”HmrAh4f9S5YUAZq42UrdsIh4W5tJ9boo”]The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Samuel Annoh Dompreh \u00a0initiated moves to impeach<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0the CHRAJ Boss.<\/p>\n

Drawing from\u00a0Article 146, Article 288, Annoh-Dompreh told\u00a0Citi News\u00a0<\/strong>that \u201cit is clear and unambiguous and so if there is supposed to be any investigation by the Auditor General, it will still not undermine or discount a petition submitted to the presidency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sources at the Presidency confirmed to Citi News<\/strong> that the President upon his return from his trip to the USA forwarded two petitions to the Chief Justice for action.<\/p>\n

The President is also expected to take a decision based on findings by an investigative committee to be formed by the Chief Justice.<\/p>\n

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ayikoi Otoo, earlier described calls<\/span><\/strong><\/a> for the Commissioner of CHRAJ, Lauretta Lamptey to resign as premature.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy don\u2019t we take our time to put everything in order? We should not be seen to be engaging in exercises of futility,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
