The Inspector-General of Police,\u00a0 Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan has urged personnel of the Service to embrace the wind of change blowing in the Ghana Police Service, and contribute to its success.<\/span><\/p>\n

The IGP charged the personnel to eschew megative practices which draw the Service back. He particularly called on personnel to undertake initiatives to improve the lot of the Service, and not wait for funds from the Central Government before working<\/p>\n

Mr. Alhassan made the call, when the Public Confidence Re-affirmation train got to the Volta Region on Tuesday 7th<\/sup> October 2014. In the region, two durbars were held in Hohoe and Ho for the propagation of Public Confidence Re-affirmation message.<\/p>\n

The Inspector-General of Police also took the opportunity to further educate the personnel on the newly introduced Patrol System, which he said forms the nerve of policing.<\/p>\n

He emphasized preventive policing much against reactive one, which focuses more on looking for perpetrators after a crime has been committed.<\/p>\n

The personnel of the Service were also apprised of welfare packages being put in place by the Police Administration to cater for their welfare, and to ensure that they give off their maximum output.<\/p>\n

Among these are housing scheme, residential accommodation and improvement of sanitation facilities at the barracks.<\/p>\n

Taking their turns, the Director-General\/Services, COP\/Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh; Director-General\/Finance, COP\/Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and Director-General\/Public Affairs Department, DCOP\/Rev. David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin advised personnel to be proud of the Service and carry out their duties in a way that will not bring the name of the Police Service into disrepute.<\/p>\n

The Commissioners also called on personnel to see their profession as a calling by God to whom they are accountable.<\/p>\n

So far, this is the eighth region to which the IGP has carried the Public Confidence Re-affirmation programme, though it has been launched in all the eleven Police regions.<\/p>\n
