{"id":55309,"date":"2014-10-10T17:37:08","date_gmt":"2014-10-10T17:37:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=55309"},"modified":"2014-10-10T17:37:08","modified_gmt":"2014-10-10T17:37:08","slug":"angelina-jolie-receives-honorary-damehood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=55309","title":{"rendered":"Angelina Jolie receives honorary damehood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"story_continues_1\">Actress Angelina Jolie has been made an honorary dame by the Queen for services to UK foreign policy and the campaign to end war zone sexual violence.<\/p>\n<p>The 39-year-old star was presented with the insignia of an Honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The investiture took place during a private audience at Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n<p>The Girl, Interrupted and Maleficent actress was recognised in the Queen&#8217;s Birthday Honours earlier this year.<\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The Queen with Angelina Jolie\" src=\"http:\/\/news.bbcimg.co.uk\/media\/images\/78139000\/jpg\/_78139153_jolie2_pa.jpg\" width=\"336\" height=\"336\" \/><\/div>\n<div>As a US citizen, Jolie cannot be addressed as Dame<\/div>\n<p>Jolie is a special envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and co-founded the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (PSVI) in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The award was first announced in June during the week when Jolie was co-chairing the End Sexual Violence in Conflict (ESVC) global summit in London with then foreign secretary William Hague.<\/p>\n<p>The US actress said at the time that it meant &#8220;a great deal&#8230; to receive an honour related to foreign policy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Jolie&#8217;s investiture follows her recent marriage to her actor partner Brad Pitt, with whom she has six children.<\/p>\n<p>Last year she revealed she had chosen to have a double mastectomy after discovering she had an 86% chance of developing breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Actress Angelina Jolie has been made an honorary dame by the Queen for services to UK foreign policy and the campaign to end war zone sexual violence.
