Dr Spio-Garbrah has come under intense criticism<\/strong><\/span><\/a> from members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Alliance for Accountable Governance<\/strong><\/span><\/a> (AFAG) over\u00a0comments he made in an article written in 2006 describing the late President John Mills\u2019 Ministers as \u2018team B.\u2019<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”eAvVLS1DVb1xe0LIrLoHkiTJOyTXGJ4w”]AFAGs protest also follows\u00a0accusations from the Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>, that Spio-Gabrah lied to the Appointment Committee during his vetting.<\/p>\n But President Mahama went ahead on Thursday to swear him at a short ceremony at the Flagstaff House, ushering in the new Trade and Industry Minister.<\/p>\n President Mahama charged Dr Spio-Garbrah to coordinate Ghana\u2019s efforts to transform the structure of the economy.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cWe are looking to add more value to our exports. We are looking to create more innovative means of generating revenue, putting up people to work, expanding industry and manufacturing. <\/a>AFAG\u00a0on Monday called on President John Mahama not to swear-in Dr Spio-Garbrah<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>even though Parliament had accordingly approved his appointment.<\/p>\n
