Pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) has set November 4, 2014 to demonstrate against what the group describes as \u201cexcessive abuse and misuse of state resources by National Democratic Congress (NDC) appointees\u201d<\/p>\n

According to AFAG, Ghanaians have not seen any value for money ever since the NDC took over from the NPP[New Patriotic Party] in 2009.\u201d<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”tZDXgxKHlZDcnrLuy4e86f6beOBX1QPw”]A press statement<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>signed by some members of AFAG said the country can only boast of well organized corruption, after several revelations about corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can only boast of well organised corruption. There is a new revelation of waste and misuse of state resources. There appears to be a well organised attempt to strip the state naked of its funds by dishonest appointees filled with greed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some of the recent revelations of corruption include the payment of\u00a0<\/strong>over\u00a0200,000 “non-existent” national service personnel<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>with a whopping GHC7 million.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner on Commission of Human Rights and Adminstrative Justice (CHRAJ),Lauretta Lamptey has also been in the news for allegedly spending about 20,000 dollars on rent alone<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor in June said there is a growing level of despondency<\/span> <\/a><\/strong>among Ghanaians over government\u2019s failure to fight corruption.<\/p>\n

“With the population explosion, everybody is expecting something from the centre, and the centre not being able to provide.This compounds the corruption \u2026there is a ground of unhappiness and of protest,\u201d Kufuor said.<\/p>\n

He said more needs to be done to fight the canker, saying, \u201cI\u2019m hopeful that along the way, corruption might be tackled effectively and hopefully \u2026government should be more accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n
