The forlorn-looking character wore a sandwich board proclaiming: \u201cI\u2019m so sorry I lied\u201d.<\/p>\n
And his display of sorrow appeared to work when\u00a0his partner\u00a0arrived an hour or so later – and after 30 minutes of heart to heart talks they wandered back to nearby flats.<\/p>\n
Gareth Thatcher, 33, who took the photographs near Manchester city centre, said the man was wearing just a T-shirt and shorts, despite the chilly night, and appeared to be aged in his mid-30s.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cHe was there for quite a while from about 8pm. Then the girl came down.<\/p>\n
“I don\u2019t know if he knew she would be passing and was waiting for her or if he had been sent out there by her with the sign around his neck.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey talked for a long time and I assume he was off the hook by the end of it because they were all smiles as they walked off to one of the flats.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t have a clue\u00a0what he did\u00a0but it must have been pretty bad.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019ve never seen anything like it!\u201d<\/p>\n
