Two deputy directors of the National Service Scheme have been cleared of any wrongdoing in an interim investigation report.<\/p>\n
Alhaji Alhassan Imoro and 23 others<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0were ordered to step aside after investigations revealed that\u00a07.9 million ghana cedis was paid to 22,000 non existent national service personnel in July 2014.<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”yOb443EdMfhiz4OmrHUpqlR1UE5iwuPk”]But Michael Kombo, Head of Finance and\u00a0Administration\u00a0and Madam Spohia Karen Akuoko who is in charge of Operations \u00a0at the Secretariat, are to be reinstated, per the recommendation of an audit\u00a0report.<\/p>\n The interim report also cleared the Board of any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, a Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary Education, Okudzeto Ablakwa has said the NSS Board\u00a0will not be dissolved<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n The revelations about the corruption deals at the Secretariat generated public outcry with several\u00a0individuals<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0groups<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>asking for the dissolution of the Board too.<\/p>\n But the Minister believes the preliminary report from the BNI did not indict the Board and thus it will be unfair to dissolve it.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2026Their[NSS Board] continued existence or operations will not necessarily affect ongoing investigations.If National Security thought so, they would have communicated that to us and the Board would have been asked to step aside,\u201d he explained<\/p>\n He also stated that \u201cgovernment has no intentions of closing down the National Service Scheme now.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
