A special assistant to Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Mr Kwaku Ampaw\u00a0is warning members of the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) to stay out of his business.<\/p>\n
AFAG protested the appointment of Dr Spio-Garbrah as Trades Minister, following accusations from the Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, that he[Spio Gabrah] lied to the Appointment Committee<\/strong><\/span><\/a> of Parliament during his vetting.<\/span><\/p>\n AFAG on Monday called on President John Mahama\u00a0not to swear-in Dr Spio-Garbrah<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0even though Parliament has\u00a0vetted and endorsed him<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”EntanfHiaYqE6RPoGgwuI1qoZoBOTC1i”]They described him as \u201cblock headed\u201d and questioned his credibility saying, \u201cit is worrying that a person who labelled, his soon to be colleagues; team B, could not justify the very reasons for labelling them so. Being \u201csorry\u201d is not enough, the motive behind the call is one filled with hate, envy and the \u201cpull him down\u201d syndrome.\u201d<\/p>\n They described him as arrogant and making inconsistent statements during his vetting in Parliament.<\/p>\n But speaking on Asempa Fm\u2019s Eko Sii Sen programme on Tuesday, Mr Kwaku Ampaw warned AFAG to desist from making such comments about Dr Spio-Garbrah\u00a0asking, \u201cwhat has he done that no man on earth has not done before?\u201d<\/p>\n He said it was surprising that AFAG described Spio Gabrah as \u201cblock headed\u201d when he has held a number of high level positions both in Ghana and internationally.<\/p>\n About Spio-Garbrah<\/b><\/p>\n Ekow Spio-Garbrah\u00a0is a former CEO of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) based in London.<\/p>\n He is one of Africa’s pre-eminent public servants, and an authority on mass communications who has held several high-profile positions in the field.<\/p>\n He is a former Minister of Communication, one-time Ambassador of Ghana to the United States and Mexico, Minister of Education, Minister responsible for Mines and Energy and a member of UNESCO\u2019s Executive Board in Paris.<\/p>\n He served in the cabinet during the democratic regime of Jerry John Rawlings between 1994 and 2000.<\/p>\n Spio-Garbrah is a member of the board of directors of South Africa Telekom, AngloGold Ashanti and recently of Vodacom.<\/p>\n He is also member of the International Advisory Board of the African Press Organization (APO).<\/p>\n Before his ministerial appointment, Dr Spio-Garbrah was president of the Dominion University College and a Chief Executive Officer for the Action Chapel.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana (With files from Wikipedia)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A special assistant to Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Mr Kwaku Ampaw\u00a0is warning members of the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) to stay out of his business.
