{"id":53530,"date":"2014-10-04T15:37:36","date_gmt":"2014-10-04T15:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=53530"},"modified":"2014-10-04T15:37:36","modified_gmt":"2014-10-04T15:37:36","slug":"economy-will-continue-to-improve-veep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=53530","title":{"rendered":"Economy will continue to improve &#8211; Veep"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Vice President of Ghana, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has expressed optimism that the country\u2019s economy will continue \u00a0to improve in the next few months.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Speaking to Muslims in Takoradi\u00a0 during the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha on Saturday, the Vice President admitted that the country\u2019s economy has struggled this year, he stated that the government has put measures in place to improve it; some of which he says are beginning to produce positive results.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the past few months, the conditions in our economy have weakened, but we are making efforts to reverse the trends we are seeing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Wut9i6WSRJXAZBvabS3VsVzXdJbMoP2s&#8221;]The cedi, after depreciating up 40% against major international trading currencies <span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">has, in recent weeks <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/23\/cedi-slowly-gaining-stability\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>seen some stability<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em; color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/26\/infograph-see-the-cedis-steady-rise\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">gained some ground<\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">This development\u00a0<\/span>according<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0to Amissah-Arthur is indicative of the positive impact of government measures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A three-year International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme is <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/02\/three-year-imf-programme-rolls-out-in-january-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>set to be rolled out in January 2015<\/strong><\/span><\/a> following government\u2019s negotiations with the IMF for a bailout aimed at restoring stability and growth in the economy.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">The Vice President also called on Muslim youth not to \u201ctake the peace in the country for granted,\u201d and to maintain the \u201cprevailing religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He advised them to shun indiscipline, criminality and immorality and to endeavour to live in peace, while remembering the lessons of sacrifice, obedience and love taught by Islam.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Edwin Kwakofi\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Vice President of Ghana, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has expressed optimism that the country\u2019s economy will continue \u00a0to improve in the next few months.
