{"id":51391,"date":"2014-09-26T15:02:05","date_gmt":"2014-09-26T15:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=51391"},"modified":"2014-09-26T15:02:05","modified_gmt":"2014-09-26T15:02:05","slug":"4th-annual-robotics-science-education-competitions-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=51391","title":{"rendered":"4th Annual robotics science education competitions launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6584\" style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">\u00a0Ghanaian Senior High School teams and over 1000 students are gearing up to compete regionally to showcase their science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills to address real world challenges.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6577\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6567\">This competitions coordinated by the Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation (GRAF) in partnership with the US Embassy Ghana, and other corporate institutions will occur in Tamale, Accra and Cape Coast.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>GRAF was founded in 2011 as a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to inspire the next generation of Ghanaians to participate in science and technology. GRAF\u2019s mission seeks to design accessible and innovative programs that will excite and motivate young Ghanaians to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0RISE seeks to transform the learning experience of young Ghanaians by connecting science theory to hands-on learning experiences.\u00a0 Not only do teachers and students strategize, design, build, program and test an autonomous robot to solve defined real world problems, but students are able to develop leadership skills, self-confidence, presentation and communication skills through the experience of Robotics competitions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6592\">This is the fourth consecutive year, where thousands of participants and supporters have gathered on and off-line in Ghana to encourage this innovative and motivational experience under the tutelage of NASA Senior Robotics Engineer Dr. Ashitey Trebi-Ollennu and prominent Ghanaian professors.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6593\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6575\">The U.S. Embassy look forward to\u00a0 making the most of this educational partnership and witnessing the results of these activities in the months and years to come, as students are able to build on their\u00a0newly-acquired skills.\u00a0 Come join in the excitement and cheer on Ghana\u2019s youth!<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6594\">The schedule of competitions is as follows:<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6609\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6570\"><b>Friday, September 26, 2014:<\/b>\u00a0 Competition at the Central Administration Hall of the University of Development Studies; 13 high school clubs from Ghana\u2019s northern regions participating.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6608\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6607\"><b>Saturday, September 27, 2014:<\/b>\u00a0 Competition at the Ridge Church Hall in Accra; 13 high school clubs participating from Greater Accra, Volta and Eastern regions<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6605\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6603\"><b>Saturday, October 4, 2014:\u00a0<\/b>Competition at the Saint Augustine SHS for high school clubs participating from the Central and Western regions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Source: US Embassy<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6601\">\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411743545603_6602\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Ghanaian Senior High School teams and over 1000 students are gearing up to compete regionally to showcase their science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills to address real world challenges.
