{"id":51257,"date":"2014-09-26T10:58:41","date_gmt":"2014-09-26T10:58:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=51257"},"modified":"2014-09-26T11:21:09","modified_gmt":"2014-09-26T11:21:09","slug":"rawlings-agrees-out-of-court-settlement-with-author","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=51257","title":{"rendered":"Rawlings agrees out-of-court settlement with author"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Former president Jerry John Rawlings has agreed to a court directive to settle his case against former Ghana ambassador to the UK Professor Danso-Boafo out of court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Rawlings went to court to <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/08\/20\/rawlings-sues-ghanas-ex-high-commissioner-to-uk\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>restrain Prof. Danso-Boafo from launching a book<\/strong><\/span><\/a> titled \u201cJJ Rawlings and Democratic Transition in Ghana,\u201d which was scheduled for August 20, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;ZvFBMnOwM8jQcuJeNhozBSHyvOP0lkVE&#8221;]Mr. Rawlings accused the author of \u201cbreaching his own solemn undertaking\u201d with him [Rawlings] and has published the book.<\/p>\n<p>This was after the author had undertaken to wait for him to review the book and correct all factual inaccuracies that the book may contain.<\/p>\n<p>When the two appeared in court today, presiding judge, Jutice Mustapha Habib Logoh asked the two to settle the matter out of court and the former president agreed to do so.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_51275\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-51275\" style=\"width: 2040px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/prof-boafo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-51275\" alt=\"Former Ghana ambassador to the UK, Prof. Danso-Boafo\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/prof-boafo.jpg\" width=\"2040\" height=\"1360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/prof-boafo.jpg 2040w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/prof-boafo-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/prof-boafo-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2040px) 100vw, 2040px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-51275\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Former Ghana ambassador to the UK, Prof. Danso-Boafo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to court documents filed by Rawlings, his approving the final work was a precondition for the publishing of the book and even though Prof Danso-Boafo duly sent a transcript of the book to him, he has not yet approved of it because it contained inaccuracies and distortions of the reality.<\/p>\n<p>Rawlings who contends that he has \u201ca proprietary interest in the book,\u201d added that unless restrained by the Court from launching the book, Prof Danso-Boafo \u201cwill go ahead and do so to the incalculable detriment to me which cannot be compensated in monetary terms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Rawlings and Prof. Danso-Boafo are expected to meet and agree on a settlement on October 1.<\/p>\n<p>They will be expected to report to the court on 9th October and inform it about the said agreement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Fred Djabanor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former president Jerry John Rawlings has agreed to a court directive to settle his case against former Ghana ambassador to the UK Professor Danso-Boafo out of court.
