{"id":50575,"date":"2014-09-24T10:19:01","date_gmt":"2014-09-24T10:19:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=50575"},"modified":"2014-09-24T11:08:29","modified_gmt":"2014-09-24T11:08:29","slug":"ashesi-to-push-more-women-into-engineering-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=50575","title":{"rendered":"Ashesi to push more women into engineering sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">In a bid to bridge the widening gender gap in the Ghanaian engineering sector the President and founder of Ashesi University, Dr. Patrick Awuah has pledged to use Ashesi\u2019s new engineering programme to promote that cause.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Patrick Awuah revealed this while pitching for partnership at the 2014 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The Clinton Global Initiative was instituted in 2005 by former American President, Bill Clinton and brings together global leaders from various disciplines to brainstorm on solutions to pending global issues.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;T7MyG7vxf1dJ4EesueKW8C3YnJcs6IeW&#8221;]Some dignitaries hosted at this year\u2019s event included; US President Barrack Obama, the executive chairman of the Alibaba group, Jack Ma, the Finance Minister of Nigeria, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the CEO of General Motors, Marry Barra &#8211; and the President of Ford foundation, Darren Walker.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at this year\u2019s event, Patrick Awuah assured that his institution was going to design a curriculum which would educate and prepare young women and men to develop engineering solutions to address some of Africa&#8217;s pressing problems.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/engineering.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-50608 aligncenter\" alt=\"engineering\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/engineering.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/engineering.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/engineering-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/engineering-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/engineering-70x70.jpg 70w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He added; \u201cour goal is about inclusion, but perhaps more importantly, it is about ensuring that the perspectives of African women guide the engineering solutions to some of Africa\u2019s greatest challenges.
