One of the New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) flag bearer hopefuls, Nana Akufo-Addo has said that he does not hate President Mahama despite criticizing him on various occasions.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said he bears no grudge against the President and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but his criticisms are for the betterment of the country and its future.<\/p>\n

Nana Akufo Addo has consistently criticized President Mahama and his government over a number of issues including mismanagement of the economy. He was reported to have described President Mahama has \u201cincompetent and clueless.\u201d<\/p>\n

But speaking at a rally in Sogakope on Monday to round off his \u2018Thank You tour\u2019 in the Volta Region, ahead of the October 18 presidential primaries, Nana Addo said, \u201cwe are not making these criticisms against the President, his government and the NDC because we hate the NDC or we hate Mahama. We are making them because we love Ghana more.\u201d<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”UaxltoRUx8jsn7hfAJMzFX04gZPBYM4g”]Addressing the delegates who voted in the August 31, Special Electoral College which delivered an overwhelming\u00a080.81% margin of victory for him<\/span><\/a><\/span>,<\/strong>\u00a0Nana Akufo-Addo told the delegates that nearly sixty years after independence, \u201cour country should be much further down the road than where it is today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Under the John Mahama-led NDC government, Nana Addo explained that Ghana is witnessing a \u201cmeltdown and a breakdown of our social security system in our country, directly the result of mismanagement and widespread corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cthere is shortage of cash so you cannot meet your obligations to the GETFund, District Assemblies Common Fund and School Feeding. You cannot pay nurses and teachers their allowances. Even chalk in our public schools has become an issue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nana Akufo-Addo noted that the nation is desperate for change, assuring Ghanaians that an NPP government, under his leadership, will restore confidence into the Ghanaian economy and ensure a decent standard of living for all Ghanaians.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will establish a competent government drawing from talents from all sides of the NPP and all regions of the country. We will put together a formidable team. We did it in (President) Kufuor\u2019s time, we are going to do it again,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, lawyers of Alan Kyeremanten and Francis Addai-Nimo are in court seeking an order against the NPP’s National Council to extend the date for the party’s presidential primaries<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Alan Kyeremanten has also begun his campaign in the Northern Region<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> to canvas the support of the over 140,000 delegates who are expected to vote in the presidential primaries.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Francis Addai-Nimo<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>, also one of the flag bearer hopefuls who was also shortlisted in the party’s Super Delegates Congress in August, is yet to launch his campaign.<\/p>\n
