{"id":50211,"date":"2014-09-23T06:31:07","date_gmt":"2014-09-23T06:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=50211"},"modified":"2014-09-23T08:27:38","modified_gmt":"2014-09-23T08:27:38","slug":"npp-congress-in-limbo-court-to-hear-injunction-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=50211","title":{"rendered":"NPP congress in limbo, court to hear injunction case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Accra Fast Track High Court will today hear an application seeking an interlocutory injunction on New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) congress to elect a flagbearer on October 18.<\/p>\n<p>Two \u00a0members of the party, Rexford Agyei Frimpong and Oppong \u00a0Kyekyeku are seeking an order against the National Council to comply with the provision of the NPP constitution and fix a new date for the congress.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;pI0xdEDc0zSuaq5hfMzJwk7uviKbioft&#8221;]The suit came shortly after Alan Kyerematen and Addai Nimoh made calls for a review of the date for the elections to elect a flagbearer to lead the party in the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>The two say the October 18 date <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/16\/we-cant-campaign-in-48-days-alan-nimoh\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>will not give them ample time to reach the over 140,000 delegates<\/strong><\/span><\/a> across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo&#8217;s camp has in response to the call said that they don&#8217;t agree with the arguments from the two candidates because according to them, the situation is like a &#8220;90 minutes football game, we all have the same time to compete and win.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Notwithstanding the court case <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/22\/alan-begins-campaign-tour-in-northern-region\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>Alan Kyeremanten begun his campaign tour<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>in the Northern Region over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile \u00a0<strong>citifmonline.com<\/strong> has gathered that the party is expected to hold another national executive committee meeting on Wednesday to discuss the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, an Accra Fast track High Court has set September 30, 2014 to rule on a motion filed by the NPP praying the court to throw out an application filed by a member of the party David Hoezame.<\/p>\n<p>Hoezame is challenging the status of the national council of the party.<\/p>\n<p>According to the party led by its lead counsel Godfred Dame, the case brought before the court\u00a0was frivolous and lacked merit.<\/p>\n<p>He argued that Hoezame failed to adhere to the dictates of the constitution of the party which spells out clearly how grievances by members of the party should be dealt with.<\/p>\n<p>In August, a\u00a0Fast track High Court <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/08\/29\/npp-congress-injunction-application-dismissed\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>dismissed an application for an interim injunction<\/strong><\/span><\/a> against the party&#8217;s Super Delegates Congress.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Accra Fast Track High Court will today hear an application seeking an interlocutory injunction on New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) congress to elect a flagbearer on October 18.
