Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance (CGRG), the organizers of the #OccupyFlagstaffHouse protest have indefinitely suspended its September 22 demonstration.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by the Executive Secretary, George Kojo Anti explained that the indefinite postponement is in response to calls from a \u201cpreponderant number of members and sympathisers for the group to support activities lined up to commemorate the National Volunteer Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group was expected to embark on another demonstration dubbed #OccupyFlagstaffHouse2,<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to protest the worsening economic conditions in the country.<\/p>\n

This comes on the back of an earlier demonstration which was staged on July 1<\/strong> <\/span><\/a><\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>demand better economic management from government.<\/p>\n

The group subsequently initiated the weekly #RedFriday campaign<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to get the government to respond to the petition which was submitted at the Presidency during the July 1 protest.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”tDW2sMFgEgHcYoEo3myuKG0zPsNh97Ab”]The statement from the CGRG indicated that the Greater Accra Regional Police Command which assured the group of its willingness to protect protesters during the #OccupyFlagstaffHouse2 protest has been notified of the indefinite postponement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn lieu of Monday\u2019s protest, CGRG will join Fashion For Change Africa (FFCA) and Utopia Wishlist to organise a medical seminar with volunteer doctors who will educate residents of the Chosen Rehab Centre, Darkuman, Accra about Cholera and the Ebola epidemic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement added that pictorial presentations and demonstrations will be made on proper hand washing techniques.<\/p>\n

Residents will also benefit from empowering interactive sessions with members of the three groups while medical supplies will be donated to the centre to help cater for the medical needs of residents.<\/p>\n

CGRG is therefore urging all its members and sympathizers to join \u201cthis noble cause as we, in our own small way, fight the \u2018octopus of hardships\u2019 which Government has neglected to deal with.\u201d<\/p>\n

It further called on all concerned Ghanaians to join the three groups at the Chosen Rehab Centre, Darkuman with cash and\/ or clothes and sundries to support this worthy cause.<\/p>\n

\u201cConcerned Ghanaians who may be unable to show up at the Chosen Rehab Centre are urged to volunteer their time and do some form of community service on Monday, September 22, 2014.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new date for the #OccupyFlagstaffHouse2 protest will be announced in due course.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Government will not fight the \u2018octopus of hardships\u2019, we will. God bless our homeland Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n
