A court has dismissed a case brought against the University of Ghana (UG) by some\u00a0130 \u2018unhappy\u2019 parents<\/strong><\/span> <\/a>of pupils at the University of Ghana Basic School.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was after the parents sued the university for the current road user restrictions<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”r6SB17vG73hljwGCTmbl4LE7UyRbwVsm”]The university said: \u201cIt cannot support academic work with the needed environment when 16,000 vehicles travel through its Legon campus every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

It said the situation was \u201ccreating significant congestion at crucial times as well as posing safety and security challenges for members of the university community, especially our students.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

The parents who\u00a0take their wards to the basic school situated on campus,\u00a0were unhappy about the directive.<\/p>\n

Some of them created chaotic scenes by blocking the GIMPA link access route to the university campus.<\/p>\n

The Okponglo entrance into the University of Ghana is the only access route available to commuters who do not have the UG sticker on their vehicles<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The parents subsequently sought a perpetual injunction against the university from continuing with the ongoing restrictions.<\/p>\n

A Human Rights Court on September 2 after hearing the submissions by counsels for the parents and the university dismissed the application to bring an end to the matter in its current form.<\/p>\n
