{"id":48854,"date":"2014-09-18T12:45:40","date_gmt":"2014-09-18T12:45:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=48854"},"modified":"2014-09-18T12:45:40","modified_gmt":"2014-09-18T12:45:40","slug":"court-actions-can-delay-ndc-conferences-lawson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=48854","title":{"rendered":"Court actions can delay NDC conferences \u2014 Lawson"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr George Lawson, has said court actions facing some constituency branches of the party in the Greater Accra Region can delay the party\u2019s regional conferences and the national delegates congress scheduled for October, this year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>He has called for early resolution of misunderstandings that have brought about the court actions.<\/p>\n<p>A number of constituencies, particularly those in the Greater Accra Region, are praying the courts to declare elections conducted there null and void and re-run them because of malpractices while others want the re-instatement of some delegates who have been disqualified.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the affected constituencies in the Greater Accra Region are Ningo Prampram, Tema Central, Ablekuma Central, Ablekuma South, Ayawaso Central, La Dade Kotopon, Korle Klottey and Odododiodoo<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Mr Lawson pointed out that if the issues were not resolved out of court they could delay the conferences and the national delegates\u2019 congress.<\/p>\n<p>He said apart from the Greater Accra Region where issues had been raised regarding the constituency conferences, other parts of the country have almost completed their constituency conferences.<\/p>\n<p>He said nominations for the regional conferences had been opened and NDC members had started picking their forms.<\/p>\n<p>He said that in order not to put the process leading to the national congress on hold, \u00a0all efforts are being made to resolve the issues raised by the various \u00a0constituencies out of court immediately.<\/p>\n<p>He said as a result, the Greater Accra Regional Executive met on Tuesday to deliberate on how best to resolve the issues and would report to the national executive the progress made so far in resolving \u00a0the concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy General Secretary said as a party that believed in the rule of law, \u201cwe have to resolve these issues so that by the end of October we will be on track to holding the national congress.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the Functional Executive Committee (FEC), made up of elected officers at the National level, who saw to the day to day affairs of the party, was determined to settle the issues raised by the various constituencies out of court.
