{"id":4823,"date":"2014-03-09T10:49:11","date_gmt":"2014-03-09T10:49:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=4823"},"modified":"2014-03-09T10:49:11","modified_gmt":"2014-03-09T10:49:11","slug":"5-year-old-boy-drowns-in-swimming-pool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=4823","title":{"rendered":"5-year-old boy drowns in swimming pool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DROWN1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4824\" alt=\"DROWN1\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DROWN1-300x195.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DROWN1-300x195.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DROWN1.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Members of a family at Jisonayili, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis are accusing the management of Discovery Hotel in Tamale of neglect resulting in the death of their 5 year old son, Wumpini Mubarak.<\/p>\n<p>The boy \u00a0drowned in the hotel\u2019s swimming pool after he reportedly went missing on Thursday around 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>According to an uncle, Salifu Tia Alhassan who narrated the incident to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, they searched for him since morning on that fateful day and all attempts for the security personnel at <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"f4fcd8d6-c69d-404f-918f-e73774389f6b\">post<\/span> at the hotel to allow them search for the boy on their premises failed only to find his body in the pool Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>He explained security lapses at the facility often makes it easy for children to sneak into the facility to play and urged authorities to do something about the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The police have visited the scene and recovered the body for autopsy.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional command confirmed the tragic incident to Citi News and said the body has been deposited <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"82f9edc4-8c67-4f05-995d-dde049d592e1\">at<\/span> the Tamale Teaching Hospital\u2019s morgue for autopsy.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed one Hamza Yakubu, the swimming pool attendant has been picked by the police for questioning and to assist the police in their investigation.<\/p>\n<p>He urged parents to give more protection to their children and ensure that they are not exposed to danger.<\/p>\n<p>Attempts to speak to the management of the facility, however, proved futile.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Maxwell Kombat\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Members of a family at Jisonayili, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis are accusing the management of Discovery Hotel in Tamale of neglect resulting in the death of their 5 year old son, Wumpini Mubarak.
