A man has been arrested after he allegedly cooked his girlfriend\u2019s dog and fed it to her for a romantic meal.<\/p>\n
Ryan Watenpaugh is said to have turned his ex-girlfriend\u2019s\u00a0Pomeranian pooch\u00a0into a dish and served it to her before sending a gloating text message telling her what he had done.<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old then left two paws belonging to a Pomeranian outside the woman’s\u00a0California\u00a0home.<\/p>\n
Watenpaugh is accused of repeatedly beating his former partner while they were in a relationship.<\/p>\n
During one attack, the woman left the apartment and came home later to find her boyfriend had left and her beloved pet, called Bear, was missing.<\/p>\n
The couple briefly reconciled last week and police claim Watenpaugh cooked the woman a meal.<\/p>\n
Investigators say he later sent her a text message asking her how her dog had tasted.<\/p>\n
Sgt Todd Cogle said: \u201cIt set all of us back when we actually read the text messages about the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can really get the sense from reviewing the text messages that the relationship was extremely toxic. It was a pressure cooker of anger and resentment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Watenpaugh, 34, has been charged with animal cruelty, domestic violence, stalking and false imprisonment.<\/p>\n
He claims he did not kill or cook the dog but has admitted he sent the creepy texts and left the paws – which belonged to another dog – at his ex’s home.<\/p>\n
